Joey Fortuna (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Mike Rinzel (vocals, lead guitar) founded POOLSVILLE in March 1997. The duo had been writing songs together since they were young-uns in suburban Maryland where they grew up. In June 1997, Fortuna and Rinzel added drummer Adam Chasan (Val Holler Band, Supple, Freeloader), and in February 1998, Mike's brother and bassist, Mark Rinzel (the Sidetracks, Neonthrills) joined the band.
Poolsville recorded its debut EP, entitled Slop Pop late in 1997. Produced by Jimi Zhivago at Mission Sound in Brooklyn.
POOLSVILLE performed at venues in New York City between March 1997 and June 2000. The band made appearances at shocases and festivals including both the CMJ Music Festival and the first annual IntelFest Music Show. POOLSVILLE also preformed at the first ever Digital Club Festival in New York City along with hundreds of other bands through a club/web cooperative. Finally in September of 2003, after 4 years in the can, Poolsville released Pornographic World entirely in MP3 format, on its site. The band members have agreed to reform and perform the album if it can collect a 1,000 verified song downloads through its web site. |
